Radiation Therapy consultation including high-dose rate brachytherapy (HDR), low-dose brachytherapy (seed implantation) and external beam radiation therapy
Nancy H. Wiggers, MD and Peter W. Possert, MD (pictured right) lead the radiation oncology team at Saint Joseph's. A radiation oncologist that uses the most advanced technology is important when considering radiation therapy for treatment of prostate cancer. Radiation Oncology Services is equipped with Varian Trilogy ™ and Varian 2300 CD linear accelerators, which allows them to offer a wide range of external beam radiotherapy, including intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and stereotactic body radiosurgery. The IMRT system provides the ability to deliver precise, targeted treatments to the tumor and at the same time minimize radiation exposure to normal tissue. This allows the delivery of higher tumor doses with faster recovery and less discomfort for the patient. Biographical information for Dr. Nancy Wiggers and Dr. Peter Possert is available on our website. You can also visit Radiation Oncology Services (ROS) for more information about Dr. Wiggers and Dr. Possert.
