The Prostate Cancer Center at Saint Joseph's has joined forces with the Midtown Atlanta Rotary to offer a Free Community Health Screening Day as a way of increasing access to important health screenings in our community.
This event will offer the following free screenings:
>> Cardiovascular screening and stoke assessment including blood pressure, weight and body mass index, and full lipid panel cholesterol testing (fasting).
>> Prostate cancer screening includes PSA and prostate exam.
>> Head and Neck cancer risk assessment and screening.
>> Lung function testing.
This event is free to participants (both men and women), but all screenings are by appointment only. All screenings will be scheduled in advance on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited so register early.

1. Who can (should) attend the Community Health Screening Day?
Both men and women are invited to take part in the health screenings offered at this event (with the exception of prostate cancer screening which is for men only). All screenings are by appointment only and must be registered for in advance.
2. What health screenings will be offered?
There will be several important health screenings offered at the Community Health Screening Day for both men and women. All screenings are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and must be registered for in advance. Screenings are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, based on availability. All appointments will be confirmed via email prior to the event. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee an appointment slot until we receive your registration and review availability. See below for a list of screening options.
>> Prostate cancer (for men age 40-75 who have not previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer.)
>> Cardiovascular screening and stroke assessment including:
- Blood pressure
- Weight and body mass index (BMI)
- Cholesterol testing - full lipid panel (fasting) which tests for HDL “good” cholesterol, LDL “bad” cholesterol, triglycerides and blood glucose level.
>> Head and Neck cancer risk assessment and screening (visual inspection of mouth and throat)
>> Lung function to measure lung capacity
3. Do I have to register in advance?
Yes. All screenings are by appointment only. We regret that we cannot guarantee availability for people who do not register in advance.
4. Is there a cost to attend?

6. Will food be provided at the event?
Light refreshments will be provided free of charge beginning at 7:00 am. Please note that if you are taking part in the cholesterol testing, you will need to fast from midnight the night before (no food or drink, except water and black coffee).
7. Where should I park & is there a charge for parking?
Free parking is available in the EAST Parking Deck at Saint Joseph’s. To locate the proper parking deck, follow these instructions: Once in the main driveway at Saint Joseph’s (off of Peachtree Dunwoody Road), continue to the last building on the right which is the Florence Hays Erb Clinical Specialty Center. Directly across the driveway is the East parking deck – the gate will be lifted so you can park free. Please do not park in spaces marked for patients.
8. Where is Saint Joseph’s located?
Saint Joseph’s is located at 5665 Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Atlanta near the intersection of I-285 and GA400. Call (678) 843-7001 and choose option 3 for directions. If you are taking MARTA to the event, use the Medical Center MARTA station which is located adjacent to the hospital. Please let us know if you are planning to take MARTA so we can direct you to the proper building once you arrive on campus.
9. Once at Saint Joseph’s, where is the event being held?
The event will be held in the Florence Hays Erb Clinical Specialty Center located directly across the driveway from the East parking deck. You will see the event check-in area immediately as you enter the Clinical Specialty Center.
Directions from Medical Center MARTA Station: Take escalator up toward Saint Joseph’s. Walk across the driveway and alongside the building in front of you toward the main hospital entrance. (As you’re walking, the West parking deck will be on your right.) When you see the Emergency room entrance, turn to your left and enter at the main hospital lobby entrance (you will have to cross the driveway to get to the entrance). You are headed to the Clinical Specialty Center. Take the elevator down to the ground floor. Exit the elevator and follow signs for the Clinical Specialty Center (formerly the Cancer Center). It is all the way down a long hallway and through a glass enclosed hallway. The hall will turn to the left upon entering the Clinical Specialty Center. You will check-in at the lobby area of the Clinical Specialty Center.
10. Will the health screenings be open to both men and women?
Yes, all health screenings (with the exception of prostate cancer screening) are available to both men and women but all screenings are by appointment only and must be registered for in advance.
11. Am I required to fast in order to get my cholesterol tested?
Yes. The cholesterol testing that is being offered at this event is the full lipid profile cholesterol test which will report your HDL “good” cholesterol, LDL “bad” cholesterol, triglycerides & blood glucose level. This test DOES require that you fast (no food or drink, except water and black coffee) after midnight of the night before. Please know that light refreshments will be provided free of charge beginning at 7:00 am for all participants and will remain open until 12:00 pm.
